Summary for decision-makers
In Boulogne-Billancourt, the Plantxa restaurant underwent a rapid six-week renovation led by the Archipelles agency, within a controlled budget. The project transformed the bistro space into a refined venue combining a tapas bar atmosphere with market influences, through colorful Latin American and Parisian-inspired décor, true to the spirit of chef Juan Arbelaez.
The interior layout prioritizes conviviality with a large custom-made table and an optimized kitchen area without a bulky bar. The materials and furnishings are chosen for their quality and originality, the modernized facade ensures local visibility, and every detail contributes to a warm and functional atmosphere, tailored to the urban clientele of Boulogne-Billancourt.
In Boulogne-Billancourt, Plantxa stands out as a contemporary bistro with a strong identity, tinged with Latin American influences. The first restaurant launched by Juan Arbelaez after his participation in Top chef, the address accommodates up to 32 guests and offers an evolving menu, designed like a living slate.
Between inspired lines and a crafted atmosphere, Archipelles sets the tone at Plantxa
To complement this evolving kitchen, the interior design agency Archipelles has completed a complete renovation of the space and focused on a boldly colorful decor, reflecting the chef's spirit.
In Boulogne-Billancourt, Plantxa is getting a makeover without sacrificing its bistro spirit. The Archipelles agency took on the challenge of a complete renovation in six weeks, on a tight budget and with parties included. The goal: more refinement, a distinct Latin touch, and an atmosphere somewhere between a tapas bar and a market bistro. The large bar has been replaced by a large, convivial table, the kitchen has been completely redesigned, and the decor is bright and welcoming—in the image of chef Juan Arbelaez.

A sunny and mixed atmosphere
Hélène Paoli, founder of the Archipelles agency, infuses Plantxa with a colorful and festive atmosphere, driven by a random mosaic floor blending Latin American and Parisian inspirations. The discovery of red and orange walls in good condition enriched the palette, harmoniously interacting with the existing bricks. A second wall was restored and enhanced with a trompe-l'oeil decorative paint job. As for the furniture, Kartell chairs replace the old seats, while a large custom-made table with mismatched legs and a blue top emphasizes the conviviality of the space.
Fluidity and functionality in the kitchen and dining room
“One of the challenges was creating a preparation area for drinks and coffees, without resorting to a bulky bar. The solution? Setting up this large preparation area adjacent to the orange bench. It created a connection. Discreetly placed, it structures the space without overloading it.” explains Hélène Paoli.
To control the budget, a kitchen designer assessed the existing equipment, preserving and renovating the stainless steel after cleaning and refurbishment in the workshop, replacing only the essential elements.
The facade has been completely redesigned in two parts: an access door and a large accordion window, which opens wide in the summer. A deep blue awning adds a touch of modernity while ensuring good visibility on this residential street.

Precision work in every element
The chairs and three pendant lights above the guest table are by Kartell, while the cushions are from Haomy. The JAB fabric benches were custom-made by an upholsterer, and the ceramic flooring is from the Italian house Ceramica Vogue. The neon lights are by Seletti, while the other indoor and outdoor fixtures are from Zangra. The countertops were designed by Le Pavé.
The restrooms, designed by Trone, play on a subtle contrast: a deep blue on one side, a soft coral on the other. Intense blue paint and white ceramic tiles combine to create a cozy atmosphere, more intimate than the light-filled main room.
