After seven years of work, the upgrading of the A14 tunnel was completed a few months ago.

While the first stage had enabled the installation of a thermal shield composed of 248,000 m² of PROMATECT®-T panels to protect the side walls and ceiling of the A14 tunnel from fire, a second phase of work began in 2015. Objective: to secure the ventilation and smoke extraction network of the tunnel of line 1 of the RATP metro.

The work carried out by Promat concerned the section located at Puteaux. Two enormous fans, each weighing 3 tonnes and measuring 2 metres in diameter, generate a flow of fresh air at a rate of 60 m3/second.

The operation proved to be rather complex due to their scale and the constraints inherent to the site (heavy traffic, obligation to carry out work at night, successive rehabilitation of the ducts in order to keep the ventilation system active).
