Unlike surface-mounted showers, whose mixers all have a 150 mm center distance, the built-in thermostatic boxes available on the market vary considerably in terms of shape and connections from one brand to another.

Added to this is their weight of more than 2 kg, which requires them to be securely fixed to a robust support (load-bearing wall) while precisely managing the technical requirements (embedding depth, centering, verticality) to guarantee a perfect finish after coating. Also, until now, installers had to be ingenious in their implementation (mortar, wooden wedges, etc.) as well as a lot of patience!

A trusted partner of plumbers for over 20 years, WATTS already has a complete range of fixing kits for surface-mounted sanitary fittings (shower, bathtub, tap, sink, washbasin, toilet, etc.) to be chosen according to the supporting wall (BA 13 or honeycomb plasterboard partitions), fittings, diameters and types of tubes (copper, PER, multilayer).

Attentive to their needs, the manufacturer has mobilized to develop a solution specially designed for fixing recessed shower columns which considerably reduces their intervention time on construction sites.

ROBIBOX®, a patented system synonymous with speed and reliability

Invented and patented by WATTS, ROBIBOX® is the first recessed niche designed for fixing built-in shower mixers.

Compatible with all brands of housings (maximum 190x190 mm) on the market, regardless of their shape and connections, the kit brings together all the essential accessories for quickly and easily installing built-in shower mixers, from the outside of the partition, before tiling. It includes:

• a recessed niche made up of a pre-drilled galvanized steel frame and a rot-proof polyamide fixing plate for guaranteed strength and watertightness over time,

• 8 expansion anchors for fixing the ROBIBOX® in the plasterboard or honeycomb partition,

• 4 self-drilling screws to cover the front face of the recessed niche with the partition wall offcut, previously cut to the dimensions of the ROBIBOX®.

This last operation is carried out after having:

• recovered then adjusted the length of the water inlet pipes and placed the shower outlets (head and hand),

• fitted the fittings without crimping them to the PER or multilayer tubes,

• connected the mixer without fixing it to the bottom and crimped the fittings.

Beyond the numerous tips offered in the kit to speed up assembly and the grid present on the bottom of the recessed niche which simplifies the perfectly centered installation of the mixer, the ROBIBOX® is 100% adjustable, with the greatest precision, in depth from 20 to 90 mm, plumb and flatness for an implementation without unpleasant surprises.

If the plumber wishes to carry out this operation, he can use the 36 x 36 cm glass cloth included in the kit and then apply a liquid waterproofing system (SPEC) around the ROBIBOX®. The whole thing will then be covered by tiles in the shower area so that it becomes completely invisible. This saves 50% of time compared to a traditional recessed installation!

Offering total freedom of placement (on the axis, from the side, at PMR height, etc.), the new WATTS built-in niche for mixer taps is also ultra-compact (310 x 310 x 109 mm), making it easy to transport, store and handle.
