RT PLUS from Knauf Insulation: the complete system for insulating and sealing converted attics against air and water vapor

To achieve airtight attics, a requirement for new builds in accordance with RT 2012, the vapor barrier membrane remains the most widely used technique. However, it is being used less and less in favor of plasterboard, which does not address water vapor tightness.

To guarantee the insulation, airtightness and water vapour tightness of converted attics without changing the installation habits of installers, Knauf Insulation innovates with a global solution, an alternative to the separate vapour barrier membrane: the RT PLUS system, which combines the insulation and the vapour barrier in a single product.

RT PLUS insulation is composed of bare glass mineral wool produced using the ECOSE® Technology process (lambda 32mW/mK or 35mW/mK), onto which an aluminum-look vapor barrier is factory-integrated. This combination ensures excellent thermal performance and perfect air and water vapor tightness.

To ensure continuous sealing at the various joints, the RT PLUS system includes four inseparable accessories:

• the RT PLUS hanger which allows the insulation to be held in place,
• RT PLUS and RT PLUS XL adhesives with aluminum finish, which ensure the good junction of the insulation strips between them,
• the RT PLUS adhesive sleeve with aluminum finish, which guarantees perfect sealing once the insulation is attached to the hanger,
• the RT PLUS quick-setting sealing mastic which, in combination with the RT PLUS and RT PLUS XL adhesives, ensures the junction between the insulation and the periphery (gable, floor, intermediate purlin).
