Chatou, September 29, 2011
This document is the expression of a common desire to act in an eco-responsible manner.
The Eco-Supplier Charter:
Presented on December 16, 2010, in the BNP Paribas Immobilier Résidentiel Showroom, the Eco-Suppliers Charter aims to guarantee environmentally friendly activity at all stages of the construction of a building.
Companies signing this charter undertake to:
- Implement an environmental policy.
- Train and raise awareness among their own suppliers and staff.
- Reduce environmental impacts (transport, packaging, raw materials).
- Reduce waste emitted on construction sites (recycling and reuse of waste).
- Control water and energy consumption during production phases: carrying out energy assessments, using renewable energy, improving building performance.
Salmson's commitment:
These objectives are perfectly in line with the eco-responsible policy pursued by Salmson for over 40 years, of which here are some key facts:
- In 2008, Salmson implemented a “Charter for a Sustainable Future” and became more committed to the development of its environmental practices.
- The buildings at the Laval (53) production site were subject to an energy diagnosis, in addition to the Carbon Assessment.
- Since 2008, around forty bicycles have been made available to employees.
- In January 2009, the Laval production site changed its electricity supplier: it switched from thermal energy (polluting) to hydraulic energy (green energy).
- Salmson practices waste sorting in its workshops and offices. In 2010, the Laval site produced 1 tonnes of waste, 937% of which was recycled.
- Salmson has chosen to limit employee travel through videoconferencing. Between 2008 and 2010, the number of rooms equipped with this device doubled.
- Eco-driving training for all sales representatives in France was carried out between 2010 and 2011.
- From 2011 to 2013, the glass roofs of the Laval production site will be gradually replaced by translucent cladding, in order to reduce heating and lighting consumption.
- The Laval car wash has been completely redesigned to prevent any leaks into the ground (the wash water is recycled outside).
These actions demonstrate Salmson's involvement in preserving the environment and also the relevance, for Salmson, of being a signatory of the Eco-Supplier Charter.
Recognition of this approach: Salmson, 5-star Eco-Supplier
By signing this Charter, each supplier obtains a certain number of stars (from 0 to 5) based on their environmental commitment.
Salmson, through these various actions, obtained a score of 36/40, thus positioning the company among the 5-star suppliers, which constitutes the highest distinction.
Salmson received the maximum number of points in various criteria: general policy, training and awareness, control of energy consumption, control of air and water emissions.
