Development of digital models of the ECAP® and EDIL-THERM® facade systems
European leader and leading French manufacturer of screeds, mortars and lightweight concrete, specialist in innovative exterior thermal insulation systems, producer of polystyrene under ACERMI for ITE systems, EDILTECO® France is undertaking its BIM strategy with BIMobject®, the first platform
global BIM content platform, for collaboration and digital file exchange between BIM professionals and manufacturers. Edilteco chose the Batimat trade fair as a springboard for presenting its BIM objects. On this occasion, the EDILTECO stand - Hall 6 Aisle G Stand 88 - will host a "BIM Point" where professionals can come and watch demonstrations and receive explanations on the use of ECAP® and EDIL-Therm® BIM software and tools. As the building's identity card, BIM has revolutionized the design methods of specifiers and, at the same time, the marketing of manufacturers. "We find that during calls for tender, the prescription of products can also depend on their ability to integrate into a digital project. Even if generally the first choice remains of course quality, there are for example calls for tenders in BIM and if we do not have a digital model of our products, their quality - as long as it is excellent - will no longer be enough to reference them" specifies Franck Pied, Marketing & Technical Manager EDILTECO® France. Indeed, BIM is a revolution in its own right, it has allowed specifiers to optimize calculations, simulations and the organization of information not only in a 3D model but in a multidimensional project spanning the entire life cycle of a building. Thus, since 7/09, EDILTECO's ECAP® and EDIL-Therm® BIM objects have been available and referenced on the BIMobject portal, through which architects and specifiers can download them free of charge. Their digital data includes information on their formats, weights, installation instructions, technical standards and certificates they hold (DTA, AT) as well as installation photos and videos. “Today, more than 35% of specifiers use BIM, and this continues to evolve as architects and professionals equip themselves and software becomes more accessible. The democratization of BIM is underway and it is certain that we will not go back" specifies Michaëlle Pesah, Director France and Belgium BIMobject®. Developed in REVIT and IFC format, they are interoperable with different digital model software and allow all stakeholders – design offices, architects, economists, companies – regardless of their software, to read them and work on the same plan, the same exchange format. This is also known as “Open BIM”. BIM objects will also be available via the Edilteco website and the new “BIM Object” tab which will generate a redirection link to the BIMobject® portal. This way, all updates and modifications will be automatic (single source concept) and users will be assured of always having the latest version of the file. They will be informed in real time, on their toolbar within their software, of the updating of files. Today, as a new player in BIM, Edilteco is giving itself the means to support its sector and professionals in the world of construction in the new BIM working processes which will inevitably become standards.
