SARPAP & CECIL INDUSTRIE - In the Rhône department we are going green with Termifilm UV+

The Rhône department, like 53 other French departments, has been declared a termite-prone area by prefectural decree*. Some municipalities, such as Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon and part of Lyon, are particularly affected. However, there remains a lack of information. Many homeowners are aware that a pest survey is carried out before the sale, specifying in particular whether the presence of termites is detected in the home. However, it is less clear that first-time buyers are informed of the obligation to implement a termite prevention system for all new construction. As a result, most construction is carried out outside the legislative framework, and therefore outside compliance. The damage has serious consequences for the owner:

- a more or less long-term infestation,
- the loss of value of the property in the event of resale,
 and the risk of being fined up to €45 and imprisoned in the event of a repeat offence.

A new hotel in Chaponnay (69) is adorned with Termifilm UV+

On the construction site of a new hotel in Chaponnay (69), the project owner chose to install a physicochemical anti-termite barrier, Termifilm UV+.
Based in Chaponost, the company OPH, responsible for the implementation of this anti-termite system and Qualibat certified, has specialized in pest control treatment for over 35 years.
On this project, OPH, supported by members of the Termifilm UV+ technical team from Sarpap & Cecil Industrie, proceeded in two stages, integrating perfectly into the intervention schedule of the other trades:

- a first step concerned the protection of the basements;
- the second consisted of treating the ground floors,

the aim being to protect the building and its thermal insulation from any infestation by subterranean termites.

Its innovative and patented manufacturing process ensures that this barrier does not release any active ingredients into the soil. because the termicidal molecule is grafted into the mass of the polyethylene. Today, in order to build on sustainable and profitable foundations, it is important to inform residents of termite-prone areas about anti-termite legislation, so that the right measures can be taken and implemented for future construction projects.

Two men worked on the site for four days. These applicators unrolled seven rolls of Termifilm and applied the contents of one bucket of Termigranuls and two buckets of Termifuge.

** The Termite Law, a concrete alternative to spreading insecticide liquid on the ground. The Termite Law (No. 99-471 of June 8, 1999), decreed in 1999, aims to protect buyers and owners of buildings against termites and other wood-eating insects. The 2nd decree of the Termite Law (No. 2006 - 591 of May 23, 2006) applies to all departments that have a decree (whether for part of the department or the entire department). It strengthens the protection of buildings against termites and wood-eating insect larvae. It requires, for new constructions as well as for renovation work, the implementation of devices to prevent and combat termites and wood-boring insect larvae, and the submission of a technical notice (protection device, technical characteristics of the product used, etc.) to the project owner, upon receipt of the work. As of November 1, 2007, the spreading of liquid chemical products on soils is prohibited and the treatment must be applied by physical or physicochemical processes.
