SATECO: Expertise, innovation and tailor-made solutions for international construction

Innovation and personalized service for constructions worldwide

A French manufacturer of high-end capital goods for the building industry, SATECO currently employs 220 people across two sites in Vienne (86): in Mirebeau, which houses 14 m² of production workshops and the head office, and in Maillé, with a rental and equipment reconditioning unit. All equipment is designed, manufactured and assembled in its own factory, which allows SATECO to control the production process, a guarantee of quality and respect for finishes. A loyal partner of construction companies, SATECO strives to meet their needs as closely as possible with products designed according to the requirements of:
- speed of execution (packaging, installation on site, speed of concreting, rotation, etc.);
- ease of implementation and ergonomics of the equipment;
- economy in use (long lifespan, captive accessories, concept of cycles, etc.);
- optimal safety for the user (meets the most demanding standards).

With a production potential of 100 m² of formwork and 000 km of platforms, SATECO is present on the construction market with straight and curved formwork, posts, safety platforms, etc. Thanks to its know-how and its integrated design office, SATECO is able to provide tailor-made tools.

The company has indeed developed its R&D to meet the most ambitious projects. More than 20 people, supported by state-of-the-art IT equipment, work on developing the hardware of tomorrow and on specific projects.

SATECO also offers a Services business dedicated to the rental and sale of reconditioned equipment, as well as the maintenance of formwork fleets on behalf of customers. Finally, SATECO provides design and implementation services (site methods) for all of its equipment. Thanks to its wide range of products and the diversity of its skills, SATECO offers the most comprehensive and competitive offering on the market.

SATECO is thus able to respond to specific calls for tenders for the manufacture of formwork adapted to construction site issues. Building on its leadership in France, the manufacturer is now strengthening its presence with major international construction companies. The adaptability of SATECO's design office for the creation of custom formwork tools and the skills of its engineers strengthen its international image.

SATECO's primary objective abroad is to provide personalized design and usage advice, as well as the services necessary for the smooth operation of equipment, while ensuring maximum on-site safety. To achieve this, SATECO establishes contacts directly in the targeted territories (Middle East, Asia, North Africa, Eastern Europe, and Russia) to work with local teams and guarantee the reliability of SATECO's services. These locations also aim to initiate the establishment of SATECO depots for storing spare parts and, where applicable, renting them to users.

SATECO's international work also provides an opportunity to provide a unique service through research, custom design, user support, and all the services required for the proper use of formwork on site with maximum safety. Since metal formwork is a French specialty, SATECO offers a range of mixed formwork dedicated to civil engineering and civil engineering structures internationally.

What's new at Intermat Middle East 2011

To meet the demands of international customers, Sateco is presenting two formworks at its Intermat Middle East stand for the construction of different types of buildings around the world:

1. SC 9015 Bis formwork - ergonomics and time saving for safe pouring

The SC 9015 Bis formwork combines ergonomics, safety and productivity for high-quality projects. Thanks to its metal formwork face, which is suitable for repeated pouring and simplified oiling, the SC 9015 Bis formwork ensures good flatness of the formwork face and is easy to maintain on construction sites. Ready to form straight walls, the SC 9015 Bis offers many advantages to reduce construction times. Concrete pouring cycles are shortened, saving considerable time on site.

Its concrete pressure resistance of 15t/m² allows unlimited pouring speed up to a height of 7,5 m and proves to be a guarantee of service life. Equipped with 2 easily accessible vertical assembly parts, the SC 9015 Bis ensures time savings during implementation. With a maximum opening of 1,20 m, the proposed central gantry allows two 2,40 m formworks positioned opposite each other to be handled in a single operation. In addition, the SC 9015 Bis panels are equipped with raised foot jacks for ergonomic and extremely precise adjustment. Thanks to its monobloc structure, the panel contains integrated and captive safety accessories and the installation of the SC 9015 Bis takes only 10 minutes.

2. TPC bench - stability and robustness for gaining height

Designed for the construction of civil engineering structures, the TPC formwork is particularly suited to high formwork. With a metal frame and a plywood formwork face, the TPC can withstand up to 12t/m² of concrete pressure. Thus, height stability is ensured up to 15 m using standard props with extensions. Its robustness allows for increased concreting speed and thus reduces construction times.

The flexible TPC can be height-shifted and perfectly assembled. The panel is ergonomic and designed to be easy to use and maintain. In addition, safety accessories and assembly parts are integrated into the panel. Its tubular structure makes plywood replacement quick and easy. The panels can be rotated to pour one wall per day, thus optimizing the formwork. To ensure safety, bypass walkways and raised guardrails are available.

Tailor-made Sateco solutions for two exceptional construction sites in Qatar and Switzerland

1. Two turnkey SATECO tools for the construction of the infrastructure of a real estate complex in the West Bay business district in Qatar

For the construction of the perimeter wall of the West Bay business district in Qatar, which began in March 2010, SATECO met Bouygues Construction's formwork needs with a suitable solution. To reinforce the building's foundations, SATECO designed a single-sided tool. The metal formwork is positioned opposite the existing wall so that the concrete pour can reinforce the foundation. This process, called "closing one face," requires high strength on the formwork, which, due to the absence of a second formwork opposite, is not held in place by a spacer. SATECO therefore created a special reinforcement behind the formwork to absorb the forces. A sliding rail system was also designed specifically for this project. Thanks to this rail, the formwork slides along the wall as work progresses. The formwork can thus be moved without a crane and with virtually no effort.

For even greater ease, SATECO supplied two types of formwork: a straight model (5.40, 6 and 6.30 metres wide) and a variable angle model to follow the existing enclosure wall exactly.

Manufactured and assembled in Mirebeau, France, the equipment was transported by boat to Qatar, where a SATECO team installed the equipment and trained local teams. These exceptional formworks made it possible to adapt to the country's specific environment and ensure the deadlines for an exceptional project.

2. Tilting formwork for the construction of the Pont de la Poya in Switzerland

The Poya Bridge project is an integral part of the major road projects in Fribourg, Switzerland. Once completed, the construction will address the need to divert traffic from the city's main roads. The project also aims to ensure sustainable mobility in the Fribourg metropolitan area and relieve congestion in the city center.

The Poya Bridge was designed with cable stays, held in place by numerous oblique cables extending from two central pylons.

Asked to cast the bridge's 12 pillars, SATECO had to develop special formwork for the two central pillars supporting the cables, 80 meters high and inclined at 45°. These formwork, with wooden skin (similar in design to the TPC formwork), required a specific reinforcement system to guarantee maximum safety in the inclined position. In addition, the spacer systems were revised to allow the passage of the significant reinforcement that reinforces the concrete. SATECO's P3D footbridges were also adapted for their installation.

Custom-made, the SATECO equipment was monitored on-site by the company's experts. The project was completed in 2014 after four years of work, with a truly ingenious achievement in both its design and construction.
