Stone: new remote control for dump trucks on utility vehicles

Precision, safety, efficiency. These are the characteristics of the remote control for dumping operations recently launched by Stone, a subsidiary of the American company SPX Hydraulic Technologies. This product addresses the current challenges faced by professionals who use dump trucks but whose freedom of movement is severely limited by the wired connection.

STONE, an entity of SPX Hydraulic Technologies, launches its first radio control, intended for skips on utility vehicles, whether single, double or triple tippers. This radio control has been awarded automotive and EMC certification.

Professionals working with skips are often limited in their movements and the tasks they perform due to the wired control box. STONE addresses these issues.

Mobility, precision and security

Freed from the wired connection, the operator gains mobility and can use the radio control within a 25 m radius. This ensures total control of the application and allows them to work with greater precision and efficiency.

This is particularly true in cases where dumping is required in difficult locations (under a porch, for example) because thanks to STONE, the operator can more easily control the quantity to be unloaded. The same benefit applies to a worker who positions himself with a bucket behind a dumpster and loads the required quantity with his STONE radio control. In addition, it saves him significant time by eliminating the numerous back-and-forths that are necessary via wired connections, as well as eliminating the need to repair remote control cables cut in a door.

STONE radio controls operate with a coding system that prevents any interference and therefore any risk of accidentally tipping under the action of another remote control (when someone opens their car nearby, for example).

In addition, the control is secured so that it does not trigger unexpectedly (for example in a pocket). In fact, the central button only activates after being held for 3 seconds and automatically deactivates after 1 minute of inactivity.

Furthermore, the transmitter and receiver are locked together by a unique code and can only work together.

In addition, by limiting the erroneous movements of the skip, the STONE system helps to increase its lifespan.

Plug & Play

STONE adapts to all types of skips, whether new or replacing a cable box, and can be installed in no time thanks to its special quick-connect plug. Simply attach the receiver and connect the ground, and the system is ready to go. End users, just like skip professionals, can therefore connect the STONE system very quickly to skips equipped with a STONE SPX control unit.

Little but strong

With its compact, industrial design, the STONE control box withstands harsh construction site conditions, and its IP 65 rating makes it splash-proof and dust-proof. Its ergonomic design features large control buttons and provides good contact, even when wearing gloves.

The STONE system also offers a large number of types of boxes and supports (cabin mounting, magnets for body mounting, etc.) as well as options to meet the specific requirements of each site (different on/off switches, cabin indicator light, operating safety based on information from the truck engine, buzzer, etc.).
