Geothermal heating devices were a major trend among French people in 2009. To encourage the installation of this equipment, the government introduced the sustainable development tax credit, which allows for a tax deduction of up to 36% of the cost of the equipment.

Environmental protection has become one of the most important concerns of the French. Thanks to increased media awareness in this area, 2009 saw a spectacular increase in sales of geothermal heating appliances, perhaps more for economic than ecological reasons.

To help these environmentally conscious people, the State has introduced the sustainable development tax credit, which offers the possibility of deducting a portion of the expenses incurred for installations such as geothermal energy from income tax.

Investing in geothermal heating (whose primary purpose is heat production) allows you to benefit from a tax credit of 36% of the cost of the equipment. This is the highest tax credit available for the renewable energy component.

The State has a real interest in the development of geothermal heat pumps.

This sector is the most encouraged by the government due to its much higher economic benefits. The State is also expected to implement specific measures for the development of geothermal energy for individuals in 2011.
