A new president at SCIBO
Max Gau, (Gau Charpentes), former vice-president of SCIBO, takes over from Jean-Marie Poussou at the head of the National Union of Manufacturers of Industrialized Wooden Structures and Frameworks.
"Moving towards regulatory simplification to further promote the use of wood in construction"
On April 14, 2010, Max Gau was unanimously elected President of the National Union of Manufacturers of Industrialized Wooden Structures and Frameworks (SCIBO). He succeeds Jean-Marie Poussou, who had held this position for nearly ten years. The outgoing President is behind initiatives such as the federation of major industrial players in the sector within SCIBO, support for CE marking for companies in the sector, and the adoption of Eurocodes by industry players.
Heir to family traditions and attentive to technological advances, Max Gau now heads a company founded in 1923 by his grandfather, Emile Gau. Gau Charpentes, specializing in the manufacture of industrial and traditional frames, has been involved in the SCIBO and the development of the carpentry industry for 30 years. It was therefore entirely logical for its leader to take the helm of the union, after having served as its vice-president.
By accepting his duties, Max Gau intends to continue the actions initiated by his predecessor:
"My goals for SCIBO are part of a process of continuity," the new President affirmed. Among the major projects to come: supporting the revision of the DTUs, extending the work on eco-certification, and, above all, removing regulatory barriers: "It is necessary to move towards simplifying the constraints on the use of wood in construction to encourage more flexible use, which promises strong growth."
