Energy renovation of 109 social housing units.
For over a year, the Clos Saint-Nicolas renovation site in Bayeux has been sketching a new face for the 5 buildings and restoring their heritage value. The architectural firm "Millet Chilou & Associés", which is supervising the construction site, has drawn up the plans for the work in order to enhance the architecture of Clos Saint-Nicolas through the aesthetic and thermal rehabilitation of the facades and the bringing up to standard of the electrical system and the buildings. The design work ended with the refurbishment of the entrance halls and common areas.
Built in 1970, the 109 social housing units at Clos Saint-Nicolas are prefabricated concrete buildings with gravel and no external insulation. After a technical and thermal diagnosis as well as a survey carried out with each tenant, CALVADOS HABITAT opted for the implementation of external thermal insulation, the replacement of all the external joinery and roller shutters, the repair of the waterproofing of the tops of the balconies and the complete waterproofing of the roof terraces for a total budget of €2.
It was the RAVALNUANCES company from Saint Malo, chosen for the renovation of the facades, which proposed the EDIL-Therm® PSE system. “EDIL-Therm® PSE is an interesting product due to its ease of implementation and its energy efficiency. I discovered the product at my wholesaler Accès Peintures in Bretteville-sur-Odon (14) who is a specialist in materials for improvement and renovation work,” explains Serge Jardin of RAVALNUANCES.
After surveying the facades for the masonry repairs, RAVALNUANCES installed EDIL-Therm® PSE expanded polystyrene boards.
These panels are directly made up of a base layer combined with a fiberglass reinforcement, a primer layer and a thin finish, which here is available in white and chocolate for the facades and brown for the bases.
EDIL-Therm® PSE offers many advantages: - the assurance of exceptionally high thermal insulation, resulting in significant energy savings, - the increase in habitable space in new construction and its maintenance during renovation, - the preservation of habitable premises during the construction period, - the treatment of thermal bridges in a single operation and the protection of the building, - compliance with current regulations and eligibility for tax credits.
Technical characteristics EDIL-Therm® PSE - European technical approval no. ETA-13/0390.
- DTA Application Technical Document No. 7/14-1597 - European fire reaction classification in accordance with EN 13501-1: B-s1, d0.
- EDIL-Therm® PSE, l = 0,038 W/mK – EDIL-Therm® PSE gray l = 0,032 W/mK.
The renovation and energy efficiency work on the 2015 Clos Saint-Nicolas homes, which began in February 109, will be completed in July 2016. This is a fine example of social housing renovation where all the work aims for the HPE Renovation level "High Energy Performance Renovation" and will allow a significant improvement in the thermal and acoustic comfort of the housing, which will go from 270 kWh/m² per year to 150 kWh/m².
