Vegetation and biodiversity: the Marriott hotel chooses Le Prieuré Végétal iD solutions
The Prieuré Végétal iD is the choice that the project manager AXC has just made for the new Marriott Hotel in Boulogne-Billancourt.
To meet the environmental challenges of tomorrow, society The Priory Vegetal iD, a pioneer of green roofs in France, innovates and develops processes for the perfect integration of buildings into their environment. This daily commitment has resulted in obtaining the first Technical Opinion issued by the CSTB.
A green complex favorable to biodiversity
In addition to its aesthetic, ecological and building protection benefits, green roofs contribute to the development of biodiversity in urban environments.
The contribution of green roofs to biodiversity is directly dependent on the diversity of the environments created, the types of plants planted, and the properties of the greening complexes. Today, Le Prieuré Vegetal ID is proposing, as part of an experiment conducted by the National Museum of Natural History, greening solutions under Technical Advice, which will make it possible to study biodiversity in urban environments.
This is the choice that the Project Manager has just made APC for the new Marriott Hotel in Boulogne-Billancourt (92), in order to promote biodiversity as much as possible on the building's roof. The hotel's roofing work is therefore part of an environmentally friendly approach, to contribute to improving the quality and quality of life of its occupants. The roof has been planted to protect the waterproofing and increase its durability.
Implementation by the company THEBA, waterproofing specialist, the 4 greening systems “ The Priory Plant iD » consist of technical solutions adapted and associated with 4 specific plant covers:
■ ID MOTTE SEDUM : association of different varieties of sedums,
■ ID MOTTE PRAIRIE FLORA MIX : association of different varieties of sedums, perennials and grasses,
■ BIODIVERS'ID : association of xerophytic and honey-producing plants,
■ NATURAL iD ZONE : non-vegetated experimental zone, it thus accommodates spontaneous flora and native fauna.
■ ID MOTTE SEDUM is a very lightweight solution suitable for inaccessible roofs on all supports and all types of slope, combining different varieties of sedums and very resistant succulent plants. They withstand very restrictive living conditions (wind, drought, poor dry and draining soil) and can survive long periods of drought. Pioneer and groundcover plants, the different varieties of sedums are generally combined to obtain a sustainable plant cover, similar to the tundra.
■ ID MOTTE PRAIRIE FLORA MIX is another A lightweight greening solution suitable for inaccessible and visible roofs on all supports and all types of slope, combining sedums and grasses. These plants, of varying sizes, withstand very restrictive living conditions (wind, drought, poor, dry and draining soil) and are generally arranged to obtain a differentiated plant cover, in shapes and colors similar to pampas, steppe or alpine meadow landscapes.
■ BIODIVERS'ID is a lightweight solution suitable for inaccessible roofs on all supports and slopes less than 10%, combining honey-producing wildflowers selected for their ability to attract pollinators (bees) and other beneficial insects such as beetles, hemipterans or dipterans, which are very popular with birds, who will find a source of food near the nest boxes installed. This mixture of wildflowers and sedums, which tolerates sunny exposures and dry soils, offers abundant flowering from the year of planting, as well as good longevity in order to obtain a flowery meadow and a refuge for wild flora and fauna.
