VERTIPACK: A new complex for greening facades Le Prieuré Vegetal iD

The Prieuré Vegetal ID, a major player in the greening of roofs, facades and walls, is innovating with VERTIPACK, a new facade greening complex.

A high-performance green complex
With its modular dimensions, the VERTIPACK complex supports the planting of sedums and low-growing perennials. The range of plants selected by Le Prieuré Vegetal ID is suitable for all orientations. The growing medium, composed of a substrate rich in volcanic rock, has the stability necessary for a vertical position.

Each module is pre-planted in the nursery so that it has a green appearance as soon as the growing complex is installed. The latter is designed to combine optimal growing conditions for the plants with increased durability.

VERTIPACK effectively combines the qualities of 3 materials that go into its composition: the lightness of the aluminum that holds the trays on the rear face, the resistance of the stainless steel on the front face and the molding quality of the HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) used for the design of the communicating trays which, associated with an irrigation layer, distribute the diffusion of the water.
The iD 80 module measures 65 cm wide and 1,26 cm high, 10 cm thick, and 5 other sizes are available to adapt to the dimensions of each project, on the interior and exterior walls of buildings.

A suitable irrigation system
A micro-irrigation network is installed vertically over the vegetation. A 16 mm HDPE pipe is attached to the top of each module. Self-regulating and self-cleaning drippers have been selected for maximum lifespan. Watering times are estimated and controlled by the programmer, combined with a dry contact sensor. Communicating HDPE trays and an irrigation layer ensure perfect water distribution. A base of clay balls located in the trays allows water retention for long dry periods. These clay balls ensure the survival of plants without water for one to two weeks.
The walls thus planted with vegetation using Vegetal iD's VERTIPACK concept provide summer comfort, sound insulation, pollution control and an aesthetic appearance to building facades.

A light frame
The VERTIPACK framework is made of extruded aluminum rails. The clips attached to the back of the green modules are specially designed to fit into the horizontal rail. Once attached to the supporting elements, the framework preserves the facade intended to receive the greening with a 5 cm air gap.
