Customized mobile sanitation solutions for a growing festival

Launched in 2004 by Breton parents, Festidreuz has grown from a simple fair to a must-see musical event. Each year, this festival welcomes thousands of festival-goers to the Kerchann plain in Fouesnant. In 2023, for its 20th edition, Festidreuz reached a new milestone, selling out 10 festival-goers per day. WC Loc, a specialist in mobile toilets, was called upon to ensure optimal hygiene conditions during this major event.

Sanitary facilities adapted to the needs of festival-goers

With a high attendance and a large area to cover, WC Loc Bretagne worked closely with Festidreuz organizers to set up six washroom areas spread throughout the site. The goal was to ensure the facilities were accessible to all festival-goers, including those with reduced mobility. WC Loc teams installed more than 70 self-contained toilets, including 20 PMR (Persons with Reduced Mobility) cabins, which were perfectly adapted and accessible.

These cabins, designed for maximum comfort, are equipped with various practical features such as handrails, hand sanitizer, toilet paper dispensers, and an anti-theft locking system. In addition to their comfort, these cabins are also environmentally friendly. Each unit uses approximately eight times less water than a conventional toilet, thanks to an effluent recirculation and storage system.

Additional devices for perfect hygiene

To complement this sanitary facility, WC Loc has also installed around twenty showers and fifty hand-washing stations. These facilities allow festival-goers to enjoy optimal comfort while respecting the hygiene standards required for an event of this magnitude.

To meet the needs of technical teams and artists, WC Loc has provided compact toilet caravans equipped with vacuum technology. These caravans, capable of accommodating up to five people simultaneously, offer superior comfort and ensure hygienic and efficient management of human flow.

Ecological innovation: urine recycling at the heart of Festidreuz

During this 20th edition, one of WC Loc's most notable initiatives was the installation of a urine collection and recycling system. This pioneering service in France is designed for events committed to an ecological approach. The urine collected during the festival is transformed into biostimulants for agriculture, an innovation that supports the transition to more sustainable farming practices.

During Festidreuz, nearly 7 liters of urine were collected, saving approximately 000 liters of drinking water. Through this approach, the festival reduced its environmental impact while helping to reduce the burden on wastewater treatment plants. By diverting this urine from traditional treatment, Festidreuz also reduced its CO84 emissions by nearly 000 tons, a figure equivalent to 25 round trips between Paris and New York by plane.

A technical team present throughout the festival

To ensure the proper functioning of the sanitary facilities, WC Loc mobilized a dedicated technical team. These specialists, responsible for replenishing consumables, emptying equipment, and general maintenance, ensured a continuous presence throughout the event. Thanks to this meticulous organization, WC Loc was able to offer impeccable service, thus contributing to the logistical success of the festival.

All sanitation facilities, including self-contained cabins, showers, and toilet trailers, were meticulously maintained throughout the festival. This attention to the hygiene and comfort of festival-goers and technical teams helped maintain optimal sanitary conditions, essential for the smooth running of the event.
