Summary for decision-makers

Since the health crisis, 74% of French people want to renovate their outdoor spaces, and laying tiles on pedestals has become the preferred method for tradespeople. To meet this demand, the Wendel Group has created dedicated outdoor design showrooms in its stores, offering complete displays that include tiles, installation accessories, and complementary equipment.

These 10- to 15-square-meter spaces allow customers to better visualize their future terraces or balconies, showcased with products such as spas, showers, lighting, garden furniture, and artificial turf. Already present in five stores (Bergerac, La Teste de Buch, Marmande, Mérignac, and Plaisance du Touch), these outdoor displays will be extended to other locations in 2026.

Always attentive to trends and the needs of its customers, Wendel is innovating by designing five of its showrooms around a brand new concept: immersive spaces entirely dedicated to outdoor design. These spaces make it easy to imagine a terrace project, thanks to a complete staging of floor coverings and the various elements that compose them.

Immersive outdoor universes to better imagine the layout of terraces and balconies

Until now, all tile models were presented in the showroom on display racks, which made it difficult for customers to imagine their future terrace or balcony.

Based on the dual observation that since the health crisis, the French are placing more and more importance on their outdoor space (74%* of them are ready to carry out work) and that at the same time, craftsmen are increasingly favoring the installation of tiles on pads when renovating a terrace, Laurence Wendel, Works Manager and Manager of Wendel showrooms, has imagined a new concept of universes dedicated to outdoor design.

Located inside points of sale like the boxes dedicated to the bathroom, these spaces of 10 to 15 m2 are designed as complete outdoor environments featuring:

  • the different types of tiles, the distributor's core business: traditional anti-slip, coping stones, 20 mm tiles,
  • installation accessories (pads, joists, exterior profiles, etc.),
  • but also all the complementary products that the distributor did not market until now and which make a terrace or balcony a place where it is good to live: spa, outdoor shower and lighting, garden furniture, synthetic grass, pebbles, facing stone.

"In these new spaces, we have showcased equipment that we did not previously sell, such as spas and showers, in order to inspire individuals and help them more easily imagine an exterior that would be an extension of their home. In addition, to meet the demand of our craftsman customers, we have also promoted the installation of tiles on plots, allowing for a more durable finish over time than glued installation.", explains Laurence Wendel.

These outdoor design ambiances already equip five Wendel Group stores (Bergerac, La Teste de Buch, Marmande, Mérignac, Plaisance du Touch). The other showrooms in Agen, Langon, Villeneuve sur Lot and Yvrac will be available in 2026.
