Representing a €25 million investment, the new Wicona site will enable increased productivity and optimized delivery times. To offset the pollution emitted during the construction of this plant, a tree planting will take place in early February.

Wicona, after the first stone, the first tree

Construction of the new Wicona logistics site in Soissons began in mid-September 2009 and will continue until autumn 2010.
As part of this construction, the planting of the first tree, symbol of a new generation of green industrial sites, will take place at the beginning of February 2010 on the Plateau du Soissonnais ZAC, in the presence of representatives of Houtch and Caisse d'Épargne Nord-Picardie (investors), SEDA, VEFA sponsor and developer, and Elcimai Réalisations, promoter.

Let us recall that the choice of Soissons, the historic industrial center of the Wicona brand, is essential due to its proximity to the Hydro Group's extrusion presses (Pinon, Aisne) where Wicona profiles are extruded. With this new industrial facility, Wicona is aiming for a true revolution in customer service with delivery times expected within one week for the main colors.
The latest technological advances in industrial coating have been adopted for this new-generation coating line, which will enable Wicona to deliver to its customers in one week instead of two. Color changeovers will be ultra-fast, with the potential to produce 80 different colors per day.
This new, modern, and environmentally friendly logistics site represents a total investment of €25 million for the Group. This major development phase, taking place during a general period of crisis for the country and the construction sector, is noteworthy and will ultimately lead to the creation of around thirty jobs.
