Xella launches a new cellular concrete block
The new mi335 S cellular concrete block was designed to meet the thermal regulation requirements for the construction of single-family homes. It achieves the thermal efficiency levels required by the BBC-Effinergie label.
For low-energy houses
It is in this context that Xella, the world's leading manufacturer of cellular concrete and a leading player in ecological building materials, is launching its new mi335 S insulated block intended for the construction of individual houses. Expanding the YTONG mi335 range, it improves the performance of building envelopes in terms of thermal resistance, air permeability and correction of thermal bridges. The mi335 S has new dimensions (height and thickness of 25 cm) and is particularly suitable for homes in seismic zones.
A BLOCK WITH THERMAL PERFORMANCE AHEAD OF RT 2012
With the new mi335 S block, Xella improves the thermal performance of the standard mi25 by almost 335% with an R* of 2,27 m²K/W! For CMIstes, it therefore represents the ideal alternative to traditional masonry solutions, and more particularly for the construction of BBC-Effinergie certified houses.
Mounted with a thin joint and associated with a reported insulator, the mi335 S block optimizes:
- thermal resistance: with its thickness of 25 cm, the mi335 S allows you to create an ultra-reinforced and ultra-insulating envelope,
- thermal inertia guaranteeing a comfortable and harmonious interior climate,
- airtightness of walls through better controlled management of parasitic air flows,
- correction of thermal bridges thanks to homogeneous insulation.
The thermal resistance of a 35 cm wall (made up of 335 cm thick mi25 S and 30 cm TH10 insulation) can reach an R of 5,89 m²K/W, i.e. a
Umur of 0,17 W/(m².K).
MI335 S, PERFECTLY SUITED TO CONSTRUCTIONS IN SEISMIC ZONES
Available in two versions (smooth block and profiled block), the new mi335 S stands out for its 25 cm thickness (compared to 20 cm for the rest of the YTONG mi335 range). It allows for the creation of ultra-reinforced and highly insulating envelopes, and is positioned as the perfect building material for easily achieving the BBC level. It is also specially designed for individual houses located in seismic zones.
Like all blocks in the YTONG mi335 range, the new mi335 S is installed with a thin joint. This principle increases the speed of wall assembly by 40% compared to conventional masonry. Another advantage: its assembly requires 20 times less mortar for an equivalent surface area, i.e. 380 kg of adhesive compared to 7 tonnes of mortar. In addition, thanks to its large dimensions, 6,4 blocks per m² are sufficient compared to 17 with conventional masonry units.
Technical characteristics of the mi335 S:
- Dimensions (lxhxth): 62,5 x 25 x 25 cm
- Thin joint glued assembly: glue consumption of 4 kg/m²
- Weight of a block: 22 kg
- Quantity of blocks per m²: 6,4
