XELLA: A house built in 30 cm Ytong thermopierre obtains its Promotelec Performance label certificate
To ensure greater homogeneity of the habitat and thermal stability of the whole, in addition to the load-bearing walls, 3D Construction also used Xella cellular concrete for the interior partitions, all made of YTONG Caropro (straight tiles 7, 10 and 15 cm thick).

Taking up the BBC challenge
“ From the project’s inception in 2011, we advised the homeowners to build a low-energy house to reduce energy costs ,” explains Christian Delfosse, head of 3D Construction. “ At the time, the tax credit was also of interest to our clients. Subsequently, we managed to keep the construction progressing despite the constraints and increasingly stringent building regulations .” Today, the gamble has paid off, as this 170 m² single-story house has obtained the “Promotelec Performance Label,” which certifies the building’s energy and thermal benefits (in accordance with the PRO 1248-6 standard). Indeed, with a consumption level of 45 kWh/m²/year, the house can easily be certified BBC-Effinergie 2005.”
* The Q4Pa-surf indicator is based on the leakage rate under a pressure drop of 4 pascals divided by the surface area of cold walls (excluding the ground floor). It is used in the RT2005 thermal regulations and for the BBC-Effinergie label. For the BBC-Effinergie label, the maximum Q4Pa-surf is set at 0,6 m³/h/m².
Airtightness of the building: a determining criterion
3D Construction uses cellular concrete to build single-family homes. " We tested various building materials and found that cellular concrete offers the best performance in terms of airtightness, ease of installation, and cost, " explains Christian Delfosse. Indeed, as a structural material with integrated insulation, the YTONG Thermopierre single-layer wall allows, at a thickness of just 30 cm, the construction of low-energy buildings (BBC) without the need for additional insulation.
Proper control of airtightness is essential to ensure the thermal performance of a building. This criterion, closely linked to the overall design of the house, optimizes heating and air conditioning systems.
" We opted for a single-flow CMV coupled with a thermodynamic water heater [which heats the air captured inside the house] and two wood stoves for heating, " explains Mr. Delfosse.
Particular attention was also paid to the thermal resistance of the ceiling and floor.
The infiltration tests were carried out by the company Anabat 82, in accordance with the NF EN 13829 standard and the GA P50-784 application guide. The Q4Pa-surf value of
The resulting 0,14 m3/(h.m²) is significantly lower than that imposed by RT2005 (reference and default values) and well below the reference value of the BBC-Effinergie label (0,60 m3/(h.m²) in new individual houses). This figure is also in line with the Passiv Haus Institut benchmark.
