Zilten replaces the wooden frames of its steel entrance doors with aluminum frames

The current trend in the entry door market is toward "maintenance-free" doors. Homeowners are looking for quality products that combine aesthetics, thermal performance, low maintenance, and excellent value for money.

Based on this observation, since December 1, 2015, Zilten has been replacing the wooden frames of its 30 steel entrance door models with aluminum frames, and offers a response perfectly adapted to the requirements of this new demand.

Steel and aluminum, the winning combination for a high-performance and accessible door

By developing its steel range, the company offers a high-quality entrance door at a controlled cost.

With a thickness of 54 mm, the new Zilten aluminium frame is combined with a water/air/wind seal and a thermal bridge breaker, together guaranteeing the energy performance of the entrance door.

The aluminum frame benefits from an extended 5-year warranty on shine and color, compared to 3 years for the lacquered wood frame. The anti-corrosion/adhesion warranty for the door unit - opening and frame - is 10 years. The frame requires no specific maintenance: a wipe with a sponge is enough, both on the frame and on the soft profile of the threshold.

A tailor-made solution that lends itself to all configurations

The innovation developed by Zilten impacts both the new construction and renovation markets, adapting to all types of installation:

  • Standard frame with aluminum profile for insulation from 80 to 200 mm
  • Square frame for tunnel installation
  • Narrow frame for installation in a rebate
  • Double groove frame for installation on existing frame

The steel door block with aluminum frame is eligible for the 30% tax credit for renovations and is RT 2012 compatible.

Available as standard and made to measure (from 775 mm wide and 1738 mm high), it can be combined with a semi-fixed, fixed or transom window.

The installation of the aluminum frame does not differ from that of the wooden frame, and does not involve any additional time investment on site, nor specific training for the partner installer.
