Summary for decision-makers

Alkern is expanding its range of drainage solutions, such as Newhedge permeable pavers, Linogreen, and Hydrojoint, to address the challenges of sustainable stormwater management and carbon footprint reduction. These products have individual Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), facilitating environmental assessment for specifiers and public authorities. Easy to install, durable, and requiring minimal maintenance, they reduce the risk of flooding through rapid water infiltration.

At the same time, Alkern is strengthening its low-carbon and circular product range, notably through the Re-Source collection, which uses recycled aggregates and industrial by-products. The Re-Source slab and the new sand color of the Rustic Re-Source slab exemplify this commitment. The multi-format solutions, available particularly in northern France, offer modularity, contemporary aesthetics, and installation flexibility for local authorities, urban planners, and landscape architects.

A major French player in the prefabrication of concrete elements, Alkern will perfectly illustrate, at Paysalia 2025, its strategy aimed at designing sustainable, low carbon and aesthetic outdoor development solutions.

Responsible drainage solutions for the sustainable management of outdoor spaces

Recognizing the imperative of preserving natural resources, Alkern is simultaneously expanding its range of drainage solutions (slabs and paving stones) capable of effectively addressing stormwater management challenges. These solutions are also accompanied by new individual Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), an essential tool for specifiers and public contracting authorities regarding the carbon impact of their projects.

The Newhedge draining paver confirms its success, while its classic non-draining version offers a new format

With its iconic permeable paving stone, Alkern continues to enhance its solutions for facilitating the rapid and efficient absorption of rainwater through infiltration into the ground. These paving stones, with their non-slip surface for safe walking and minimal maintenance, effectively prevent the formation of puddles and significantly reduce runoff and the risk of flooding. Alkern has equipped the Newhedge permeable paving stone with 5 mm spacers for easy installation, designed to ensure rainwater infiltration. The joints are filled with 1/3 mm or 2/4 mm crushed gravel free of fines (a permeable bedding layer and sub-base). Furthermore, they boast high durability thanks to a water-repellent additive integrated into their manufacturing process.

It's worth noting that Alkern also offers a multi-format version of the Newhedge in its classic form, available in three colors (Ivory, Grey, and Coal) and exclusively in the Northern region. The strengths of this new Alkern solution lie in its modularity, ensuring great freedom of composition. By varying the dimensions within the same design, they allow for significant installation flexibility, much to the creative delight of designers, landscape architects, and public authorities. Their visual appearance, evoking more natural and contemporary compositions, gains in both rhythm and authenticity. Breaking visual monotony, these multi-format solutions finally allow for more elegant alignments.

Linogreen: the linear drainage slab

Linogreen, a permeable paving slab available in 40 x 30 x 10 cm modules, combines high technical performance with contemporary aesthetics. Thanks to its clean design with visible slats, LinoGreen allows urban planners to create walkways, parking lots, and public spaces that combine efficient stormwater management (Classification: D1-D2-D3R-D4R according to the NF187 certification standard) with visual appeal. With an openness factor of 20,7%, it allows for flexible infilling (gravel or vegetation) depending on the intended use and landscaping goals. It thus offers planners a responsible and decorative solution for adapting outdoor spaces to the challenges of climate change.

A new format for the Hydrojoint paving stone

It's worth noting that Alkern is further expanding its O' range of permeable paving solutions with the introduction of a new format for the Hydrojoint with 15 mm spacers, now available in a 20 x 30 cm size. This new product, thanks to its decorative versatility, allows for the creation of durable and harmonious outdoor spaces.

The Re-Source range continues to expand.

Mindful of the preservation of non-renewable natural resources and faithful to its commitment to a constant approach of responsible innovation, Alkern persists and also expands its Re-Source range which uses recycled materials (aggregates from deconstruction, waste and co-products from third-party industrial activities, such as scallops from the food industry).

Alkern has announced the availability of its Re-Source raised paving slab, now produced using recycled concrete aggregates (RCA). This product significantly reduces carbon footprint while promoting the circular economy. Similarly, Alkern confirms the arrival of a sand color for its Rustic Re-Source slab, an iconic product in its collection; a warm, natural shade that perfectly complements a palette already highly appreciated by designers and landscape architects.

Frequently Asked Questions for Decision Makers
