EDILTECO® France reinvents its ranges of Ready-to-Use and EDIL-Poutrelle lightweight mortars and screeds
Summary for decision-makers
Summary for decision-makers
EDILTECO® addresses the needs of modern construction with two main product lines: ready-to-use lightweight mortars and screeds, and the EDIL-Poutrelle range for prestressed concrete beams. These solutions meet the requirements for weight reduction, acoustic treatment, and substrate preparation, while simplifying installation and covering common applications in both new construction and renovation.
EDILTECO®'s low-carbon approach includes the use of CEM II cement, which reduces CO₂ emissions, and the integration of regranulated EPS from recycled materials. Optimized logistics, the publication of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and reduced packaging all contribute to limiting the environmental footprint, while ensuring performance, regulatory compliance, and ease of on-site implementation.
"Aware of our economic, social, and environmental impact, we are committed to ensuring that it is positive."
This phrase, enshrined like a mantra at the heart of the EDILTECO® Group's 2024 Sustainability Report, encapsulates the ambition that guides every innovation within the Group. Today, faced with the pressing challenges of the ecological transition and the increasing technical demands of the building sector, EDILTECO® France is strengthening its commitment to sustainable, versatile, and low-carbon construction solutions.
Less carbon, more performance!
The company unveils the latest developments in its Ready to Use (PAE) and EDIL-Poutrelle (prestressed concrete beam) ranges of lightweight mortars and screeds, designed to meet the needs of professionals and individuals in terms of floor lightening, thermal and acoustic insulation, as well as structural performance, while reducing the environmental footprint of construction sites.
SOLUTIONS ADAPTED TO THE CHALLENGES OF MODERN CONSTRUCTION
As a reminder, the Ready-to-Use range of lightweight mortars and screeds, specially designed for apartment buildings and single-family homes, offers a comprehensive solution for floor weight reduction, acoustic treatment, and substrate preparation. Whether for creating substrates for floor coverings, screeds, sub-screeds, leveling, lightweight filling, or creating slopes, this range stands out for its ease of use and effectiveness.
Complementing the existing range, the EDIL-Poutrelle line, dedicated to prestressed concrete beams, embodies versatility and technical innovation. While intentionally limited in the number of product references, it covers all standard flooring needs, for both new construction and renovation projects. With three beam families, each available in several models, EDILTECO® offers customized solutions adapted to the most demanding requirements, while guaranteeing optimized installation.
A firm commitment to lower-carbon construction
In its ongoing efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of its products, EDILTECO® has reformulated its Ready-to-Use and EDIL-Poutrelle ranges of lightweight mortars and screeds by incorporating a new low-carbon CEM II cement. This major development reduces CO₂ emissions by 8,5% to 9% per ton of cement. This change in formulation directly contributes to decarbonizing EDILTECO® solutions, while maintaining their technical performance and ease of application.
But reducing carbon impact doesn't stop at cement. EDILTECO® leverages several complementary strategies to limit the environmental footprint of its products. Optimizing concrete mixes and mastering industrial manufacturing processes play a key role!
Among the key innovations, the addition of regranulated EPS – particularly in some products, such as the POLYS PRÊT® range – has proven to be a major advantage. Expanded polystyrene (EPS) beads, obtained from the cutting of blocks and panels, are recovered and then carefully sorted.
They are then ground and regranulated using a specific process, allowing them to regain their original structure and properties. In this way, EDILTECO® reuses this raw material without compromising on quality, while preserving natural resources and guaranteeing the performance of buildings.
Furthermore, the choice of specific binders and additives allows EDILTECO® to formulate ultra-lightweight mortars requiring a reduced quantity of cement. The environmental advantages of these formulations are numerous: a pallet of lightweight mortar offers a volumetric yield of approximately 3 m³, compared to only 1 m³ for a pallet of traditional mortar. This optimization translates into a reduction in the number of trucks on the road, and therefore in associated CO₂ emissions, as well as a decrease in the energy consumption required to achieve the desired thermal and acoustic performance.
TOWARDS A GLOBAL APPROACH: OPTIMIZED CONDITIONING AND ENVIRONMENTAL TRANSPARENCY
To further strengthen its commitment to low-carbon and sustainable construction, EDILTECO® has complemented its technical innovations with practical and logistical improvements, designed to facilitate the implementation of its solutions while reducing their overall environmental impact. Within its Ready-to-Use range of lightweight mortars and screeds, the XX®, XXLight®, SottoPronto®, and PLUS® lightweight mortars have seen their packaging sizes reduced from 70 liters to 45 liters. This change, designed for professionals, facilitates simpler and compliant transport, while also streamlining handling on construction sites. It also optimizes storage space, limits losses and waste, and reduces the daily workload for teams.
In parallel, recognizing that reducing carbon impact also requires a precise and verified assessment of its products' performance, the company has initiated the creation of Environmental and Health Declarations (FDES) as well as a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) sheet dedicated to POLITERM® and POLYS BÉTO® beads. At this stage, the process concerns XX® mortar; the rollout will be extended to the rest of the range of ready-to-use lightweight mortars and screeds during the first half of 2026. Currently being registered in the INIES database, these documents provide project owners and managers with reliable and comparable data, enabling them to objectively integrate the actual contribution of EDILTECO® solutions into the calculation of the overall carbon impact of their projects. This approach is fully aligned with current regulatory requirements, such as RE2020, and provides specifiers with the necessary tools to make informed choices, combining technical performance, ease of implementation, and environmental responsibility.
True to its mantra, EDILTECO® places reducing environmental impact at the heart of its innovation approach. The company is committed to developing solutions that align with a circular economy model, by optimizing material use, prioritizing less energy-intensive manufacturing processes, and integrating low-carbon footprint components.
The Ready-to-Use and EDIL-Poutrelle ranges of lightweight mortars and screeds exemplify this commitment: combining technical performance, ease of application, and environmental responsibility. By offering products adapted to the current challenges of the building sector, EDILTECO® reaffirms its ambition: to reconcile durability, performance, and environmental responsibility, without ever compromising on the quality and strength of constructions.
A comprehensive approach that is fully in line with the Group's vision: to act for a positive economic, social and environmental impact.
