On July 15, 2026, MALERBA officially took possession of its new headquarters in Thizy-les-Bourgs (Rhône), in the immediate vicinity of its 14,000 m² logistics platform which was put into service in February 2026.

After more than fifty years at its historic site in Cours-la-Ville, the company now brings together nearly 140 employees in administrative and support functions in a 3,822 m² building. The testing laboratory and showrooms remain at the historic site.

For Bruno MALERBA, this choice primarily responds to a land constraint while also supporting the company's development prospects.

“MALERBA’s birthplace is Cours-la-Ville. However, due to a lack of available land, I chose to establish this new headquarters in Thizy-les-Bourgs. We owned a property there, ideally located on the strategic Roanne-Amplepuis axis and close to a train station serving Lyon. This choice aligns well with my plans and vision for the future of the company.”

A commercial building designed according to the requirements of RE2020

The project, named Maison MALERBA , represents an investment of more than 10 million euros.

Compliant with the RE2020 regulations, it is also part of an HQE® - Sustainable Building certification process aiming for the "Very High Performance" level. This dual approach goes beyond mere regulatory obligations by integrating the challenges of reducing energy consumption, limiting carbon footprint and environmental quality.

The building consists of two sections on two levels and prioritizes bright, modular and largely open spaces to promote cooperation between teams while offering areas dedicated to concentration.

The internal organization includes connected meeting rooms as well as several isolated workspaces designed to meet the diversity of professional uses.

Digitalization at the heart of new ways of working

Beyond energy performance, the project supports an evolution of work practices.

The company states that it has strengthened the digitalization of its processes in order to significantly reduce its reliance on paper. This evolution is accompanied by a new organization of services designed to facilitate communication between teams.

“This new headquarters embodies our desire to evolve our working methods towards greater cohesion, digitalization and responsibility,” emphasizes Bruno MALERBA.

For industrial companies, this type of layout also addresses the challenges of attracting and retaining employees in a sometimes tense recruitment context.

An architectural design centered on usage.

The architectural project management was entrusted to AIA Life Designers.

The project is the first RE2020 compliant office building designed by the firm. Its architecture incorporates several elements of MALERBA's identity, particularly through the roof shapes, facades, and interior layout.

The project was developed in consultation with the company's teams in order to adapt the spaces to the daily uses of employees.

Geothermal energy, photovoltaics and bio-based materials are on the agenda

The building's environmental strategy relies on several technical levers.

Heating and cooling are provided by geothermal energy, while the building's thermal inertia is enhanced by concrete floors and structures. Summer comfort also relies on passive systems supplemented by ceiling fans.

The energy supply relies on a 1,088 kWp photovoltaic installation located on the neighboring logistics platform. Producing over one million kWh per year, this plant powers a collective self-consumption system benefiting the headquarters as well as industrial sites located within a ten-kilometer radius.

The project also makes use of bio-based materials, particularly for timber-framed facades, natural insulation and lime plasters.

A circular economy approach integrated into the construction site

The construction project also incorporated several principles of reuse.

Golden stones from a building demolished by MALERBA were reused to create the gabions for the new landscaping. More broadly, the company states that it prioritized reusing demolition materials whenever technically feasible.

This approach is part of a logic of limiting waste and making use of already available resources.

A project mobilizing local businesses

MALERBA has awarded a large part of the contracts to local companies.

The participants include CREABOIS for the fittings, AUBONNET for the plastering and painting work, MOOS for the electrical engineering, PJA for the landscaping, BEZACIER for the bio-sourced facades, BLANCHET Groupe for the low carbon aluminium exterior joinery and FRANCE DECORS, responsible for the design and installation of the custom-made furniture.

This approach reflects a desire to support regional businesses while strengthening historical partnerships.

An environmental dimension extended to the territory

The project is not limited to the building.

Between its headquarters and logistics platform, MALERBA has created a wetland area of ​​approximately 4,500 m² designed to promote the development of a natural ecosystem. The company plans to monitor its ecological status for thirty years.

This approach complements the technical choices made on the building by integrating biodiversity into the overall site design.

After more than four years of design and construction, this new headquarters has become a working tool intended to support MALERBA's organizational evolution.
