The choice of a fire-resistant glass door depends in particular on the expected opening mechanism and the required level of fire resistance. MAF Atlantique is presenting three product lines developed by its R&D department at BATIMAT. Kronos is a motorized sliding door classified EI30, with configurations up to EI90 and E120. Cardéa 30 , a motorized swing door, is rated EI30, up to EI60 and EW60. Cybèle , a swing door, also boasts an EI30 rating, up to EI60 and EW60.

According to MAF Atlantique, the company is the only French manufacturer to master and market these three main configurations of fire-resistant glazed doors under its own brand . These developments complement the catalog of the systems supplier Jansen, which does not cover these specific configurations.

The range is aimed in particular at establishments open to the public , tertiary buildings and projects requiring a combination of fire compartmentation, architectural transparency and people circulation.

Motorization adds safety requirements

For a motorized fire door , the fire resistance of the door frame is only one part of the system. The motor, safety equipment, connections, and commissioning also contribute to the overall operation.

Kronos is thus equipped with the Drive STA20 Fire motor , while Cardéa 30 uses the DFA127 Fire operator from Record Automatic Doors. Safety equipment compliant with the EN 16005 standard has been validated by fire tests and included in the door test reports, according to MAF Atlantique.

The issue directly concerns pedestrian safety , including in the event of a fire. This constraint must therefore be taken into account from the initial design of the door and its automation system, and not only during installation.

Fire resistance and DAS (Diagnostic Adequacy Specifications) frame the design

Kronos and Cardéa motorized doors have been designed to incorporate several requirements cited by the manufacturer. MAF Atlantique specifically mentions the decree of March 22, 2004 relating to the fire resistance of construction products , the NF S 61-937 standards applicable to Safety Actuated Devices (DAS) and the EN 16005 standard relating to the safe use of motorized pedestrian doors.

The equipment must also meet the accessibility requirements for people with reduced mobility . NF277 certification complements the manufacturer's existing system for equipment conformity, quality, and performance.

For project owners, inspection bodies, and operators, these various elements mean that the door must be considered as a whole. MAF Atlantique thus identifies several links in the safety chain: fire resistance test report, fire safety inspection report, motorization, connections, commissioning, and installation monitoring.

Commissioning and maintenance on a national scale

A motorized security door must also remain operational after delivery. It is in this respect that MAF Atlantique relies on its partnership with Record Portes Automatiques , whose automation systems equip Kronos and Cardéa 30.

The proposed service covers the supply of doors and equipment , the connection of automation systems, commissioning, upkeep, and maintenance. The program is announced nationwide.

For project owners, specifiers, companies, and operators, the goal is to coordinate the work of the joinery manufacturer and the automation specialist. This continuity applies both to the initial equipment selection and its ongoing maintenance in operational condition.
